Jury seated in Flint Family Dollar murder trial – MLive.com

FLINT, Michigan — A juror has been selected in the trial of three people indicted in connection with the shooting death of a Flint Family Dollar security guard in May 2020.

The 12-member jury and four alternates were finalized on Wednesday, Oct. 19, according to attorneys in the case. The selection process he began on Tuesday, October 11th.

The trial will begin at 8:30 am on Thursday, October 20, with legal arguments scheduled before the jury is seated, the jury’s instructions will be read, and opening arguments will be held.

Calvin “Duper” Munerlyn was shot on May 1, 2020 at the Family Dollar store where he worked as a security guard for about a year.

The three people on trial in the case include husband and wife Larry and Sharmell Teague, 47.

All three have been charged with first-degree premeditated murder (a felony that carries a life sentence with no possibility of parole) and a firearm felony.

A fourth defendant, Briar Bishop, was charged with tampering with evidence, lying to police investigating a violent crime, and complicity in a felony after the fact.

She did not contest all charges on October 6. Sentencing she is scheduled for November 11th.

On the day of the incident, Munellin told Sharmell Teague and Briar Bishop that he was not allowed into the store because he was not wearing a face mask at the time, according to MLive’s previous report.

The trio got into an argument, and the altercation eventually got out and culminated in Teague allegedly spatting on Munnarlin and security shoving her in response.

Shortly thereafter, witness testimony in preliminary investigations showed that an elderly man, later identified as Larry Teague, entered the store and demanded to speak to security.

According to court records, as Munnarlin confronted Teague and tried to de-escalate the situation, a masked man later identified as Bishop Lamonia walked up behind Munnarlin and shot him once in the head with a pistol. .

Records show that both men left the store shortly after the shooting.

Larry Teague was arrested on May 7, 2020 near the Studio Six Hotel in West Houston, Texas. Bishop Lamonia was found May 8, 2020 at his three-family home in Bay City. He was detained without incident.
