The Hudson County Attorney’s Office’s Special Victims Division has arrested 60-year-old Freddy Salas of Bayonne on multiple sex crimes charges involving two children.

On Monday, October 31, Salas was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, two counts of second-degree contact sexual assault, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the second degree. He is employed as a security guard at Jersey City Public School 5, also known as Dr. Michael Conti School at 182 Merseles Street.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the alleged crime did not involve students and did not occur on the district’s premises.

Salas was arrested in the Merseles and Fourth Streets area and is being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance. Additional information about the investigation will not be released at this time to protect victims, the public prosecutor’s office said.

Anyone wishing to report a sexual offense should call the Hudson County Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) at 201-915-1234. The above accusations are mere accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
