A security guard has been charged in connection with a reported theft at the SIFA Learning Academy charter school on Thursday.
Jason Troy Toves, 27, entered charter school that morning and was charged with property theft as a third-degree felony, based on allegations that he stole items from classrooms and school stores.
“Among the missing items included a $200 piggy bank from the store, a $200 security camera, a $150 leaf blower and a $120 electronic door lock. The total value was estimated at over $500,” said the magistrate’s complaint filed against Toves.
The theft was discovered the morning the incident was reported, and officials said they suspected it was an inside job.
Toves was identified on video surveillance footage of him filming the item. After reviewing surveillance footage, Guam Police Department officers met with Toves, who allegedly admitted to the theft.
Toves was booked and held captive.
