Security guard killed, cash van robbed in north Delhi
Defendant allegedly fled with an estimated Rs 80,000


Police said Tuesday that a security guard had died after being shot by an unidentified man during an attempted robbery in Wajirabad district, north of Delhi.
They said the incident occurred at an ATM kiosk of ICICI Bank near the flyover in Jagatpur and was called to the police around 5pm.
The victim was identified as Jai Singh, 55.
The incident occurred at 4:50 pm when I arrived at the ATM to deposit cash at the kiosk. Just then, a person came from behind, opened fire on the cash vanguard and fled with the money, Sagar Singh Karshi, deputy chief of the (North) Police said.
He said the accused was suspected of running away with an estimated Rs 80,000.
The injured guard was taken to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead.
Police said multiple teams were formed to scan footage from CCTV cameras in the area to identify suspects and confirm the chain of events.
