The suspect, Matthew Cowan, was fired from his job at the Seneca Valley School District last year after he allegedly sexually assaulted a teenage victim on school grounds.
Now he faces child pornography charges after the victim told police that Cowan requested and received nude photos and videos from her and other students.
Some of those images were sent from Cowan’s account to others through Snapchat and Instagram, according to the criminal complaint.
Several people in the area on Tuesday told 11 News that this was disturbing.
“It’s a shock to send children to school thinking it’s safe,” said Carson Schwenninger.
“As a parent of two children, I certainly don’t want my child to be near someone like that,” said Kurt Skvarla.
Cowan faces 14 counts of possession of child pornography, 20 counts of distributing child pornography, and 20 counts of criminal use of telecommunications facilities.
11 News reached out to the Seneca Valley District for comment but did not hear back.
